Description:
- This job will require that the employee frequently work during a shift in the following positions: standing, sitting, kneeling, stooping, bending, reaching with arms extended, squatting, while using hand tools and/or hand held power tools for extending periods of time. Lifting of parts or materials up to 50 pounds from the floor to the employee’s waist is required. Some work-stations require climbing of steps / ladders and working at a height of up to 10 feet above the ground. Employee must be able to comprehend written drawings and assembly instructions.
- Must be able to efficiently use a handheld fiberglass roller. Handheld power tools that the employee must be able to operate include a grinder, buffer, sander, and chop gun.
- Employee must be able to work with the following hazardous materials: Polyester resin, MEKP (CATALYST), gel coat paint, acetone, putty, fiberglass cloth material, lacquer thinner, caulking, wax compounds, paint stripper. While in some areas of the A & M Mfg. facility and, as based on the safety requirements there employees may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as eye protection, gloves, hard hats, or protective clothing. If any PPE is required, the employee will receive training and issue of the required PPE. Additional duties may require the employee to help unload and properly store incoming raw materials, and help with facility cleanup projects.
- Some employees will be trained to operate powered industrial trucks such as forklifts. All drivers of a powered industrial truck will receive special training and be issued an operator’s license before being allowed to operate the industrial truck.
- Employee must be able to handle job related stress and interact effectively with others in the workplace.
- Employee will be required to help other employees manually push the production boats from one work area to another area within the facility. Environmental Test results of the fiberglass lamination department (Hull Room) conducted in February 2024 concluded that the exposure levels of styrene were well below the OSHA exposure level of 100 parts per million. Therefore, respirators are not required in the fiberglass lamination area (Hull Room). If an employee wishes to have a cartridge respirator issued to them by the employer or if they wish to provide their own such respirator, the employee must contact the People Systems Director at A & M Mfg., Inc., for the OSHA requirements for the issuing ,using maintenance of that respirator before being allowed to wear it at the A & M Mfg. facility.
